Woo! My work made a top 10 list.
I rule.
Undoubtedly one of the more heated gaming controversies of recent times befell Sony in the Summer of 2007, when The Church of England threw its toys out of the pram over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Insomniac’s PS3 launch title.
In a storm of righteous indignation, church officials described the unauthorised use of the location as “desecration” and even copyright infringement.
Demanding that the offending section of the game be removed, and the game be pulled off the shelves, Sony eventually managed to defuse the row with a formal apology – but stopped short of ceding to the church’s demand for a donation. They probably sent a promo instead.
You rock, woo!
